Thornapple Twnshp, MI - Woman Killed, Driver Hurt in Crash at Patterson & 140th Ave

Thornapple Township, MI (November 18, 2023) - An accident that occurred on Saturday morning at the junction of Patterson and 140th Avenue in Thornapple Township claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman from Caledonia.

Around 10:20 a.m., troopers from the Wayland Post were sent to a two-vehicle traffic collision, according to the Michigan State Police. According to the investigation results, a 19-year-old male driver was in an Audi that was going west on 140th Avenue when he was seen accelerating past the stop sign at the junction of Patterson and 140th Avenue. Troopers say he failed to yield to a Jeep, driven by a 31-year-old woman traveling south on Patterson Road. According to MSP, a passenger in the Audi, a 21-year-old woman, was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The Jeep's driver reportedly sustained moderate injuries, though her current condition is not known. Per troopers, drugs and alcohol had no role in the collision, but an investigation is ongoing.
