Richmond Township, MI (November 25, 2023) - On Saturday, a collision on U.S. Highway 10 resulted in the airlift of two patients to area hospitals, and authorities have now released additional details in connection with the incident.
Reed City Fire Rescue used Jaws of Life to evacuate those who were badly wounded, deputies said, closing the freeway for almost five hours. Two patients were transported to Grand Rapids Hospital by an aeromedical helicopter. Reed City Corwell Hospital received five more patients by ambulance. According to deputies, a 51-year-old man from Baldwin was driving a GMC truck when he lost control of his vehicle, crashing into another car driven by a 17-year-old male from Evart. Three other people were also involved in the collision. The two individuals in the front seats of the Ford were taken to the hospital by helicopter, per deputies. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
