Car Accidents in Michigan

Flint, MI - Injury Reported in Crash at Beach St & W Court StTraffic crashes are an everyday occurrence in Michigan, where hundreds of accidents are reported daily across both urban and rural areas. According to the Michigan State Police, tens of thousands of people are hurt on Michigan roads each year, and many of those incidents happen within cities like Flint. Local streets can present unique hazards due to high volumes of vehicles, pedestrians, and intersections.

When looking at injuries from car accidents, these are some that commonly impact crash victims:

  • Neck and Back Injuries: Rear-end or side-impact collisions often lead to herniated discs, neck strain, or spinal compression. These injuries may not show up immediately, making it important to get checked even after a seemingly minor crash. Left untreated, they can become more serious and long-lasting.
  • Lacerations and Bruising: Broken glass, debris, or the deployment of airbags can cause deep cuts and contusions. While many are treatable with stitches or minor care, some lacerations can result in infection or scarring that requires follow-up procedures.
  • Joint and Ligament Damage: Knees, wrists, and shoulders are vulnerable in crashes, particularly when bracing for impact. Torn ligaments or dislocated joints often require orthopedic treatment and can lead to long-term mobility issues if not properly addressed.
  • Burns: In some rare but serious cases, car accidents may lead to fires or hot surface contact, resulting in burn injuries. Burn injuries can range in severity and may require skin grafting or long-term rehabilitation, depending on the extent.
  • Vision and Hearing Damage: Trauma to the head or face can cause loss of hearing or vision. This kind of injury can be temporary or permanent and often requires extensive treatment or assistive devices.
  • Psychological Stress: Mental health often takes a hit after a traumatic crash. Many victims experience heightened anxiety, depression, or fear of driving. Seeking emotional support or counseling is a crucial part of the healing process.
