Detroit, MI – Four Injured in Crash at Nottingham St and Haverhill St

Detroit, MI (April 23, 2025) – Early Monday morning, April 21, a multi-vehicle crash occurred at Nottingham Street and Haverhill Street in Detroit, leaving four people injured and prompting a large emergency response.

The collision was reported shortly after 12:10 a.m., and Detroit Fire Department crews were quickly dispatched to the scene. Initial reports included a possible child trapped inside one of the vehicles, though that information was later determined to be incorrect. EMS was requested immediately to assist the injured.

Officials confirmed that four individuals were hurt in the crash. All four patients were evaluated at the scene and transported to area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions have not been released publicly. Police remained on-site alongside fire crews to manage the scene and ensure the safety of all involved. The incident is under investigation.

We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.

Car Accidents in Michigan

Detroit, MI – Four Injured in Crash at Nottingham St and Haverhill StIn cities like Detroit, nighttime collisions often present unique challenges. Reduced visibility and impaired driving are more common after dark. In 2023, Michigan reported nearly 300,000 traffic crashes, with thousands happening during early morning or late-night hours. Multi-vehicle collisions like this can quickly overwhelm emergency resources and lead to serious injuries.

A crash involving multiple parties introduces several legal and logistical challenges for victims. Here are some of the more complex issues victims may encounter in these situations:

  • Conflicting Statements: When emotions are high, as in this case, witnesses and drivers may provide conflicting versions of events. These discrepancies can complicate investigations and delay claims.
  • Involvement of Weapons or Threats: If a crash scene includes aggressive behavior or potential weapons, police may open a separate criminal investigation. This could affect timelines for resolving injury claims or insurance payments.
  • Multiple Insurance Policies: When more than two vehicles or parties are involved, multiple insurance companies may be contacted. This often leads to disputes over who pays what and can slow the compensation process.
  • Shared Liability: In Michigan, fault can be divided among multiple drivers. Victims must often prove who caused the crash and to what extent, which requires detailed evidence from reports, witnesses, or accident reconstruction.
  • Medical Coordination: When several people are injured at once, first responders may need to triage patients. This can lead to delayed treatment for some victims, and insurance companies may use those delays to question the severity of injuries.
  • Emotional Trauma: In chaotic crashes, emotional responses are strong. Anxiety, stress, and confusion can impact how victims recall details, making it harder to give accurate statements later.
