Car Accidents in Michigan

Mt. Morris Twp., MI - Crash on Jennings Rd Leads to InjuriesCar accidents continue to affect thousands of families across Michigan each year. In 2023 alone, Michigan reported over 293,000 motor vehicle crashes, according to state traffic data. Among those, more than 57,000 resulted in injuries. These numbers reflect a continued need for caution and accountability on our roadways.

One important factor that often comes into play after a crash is the kind of injuries victims suffer. Here are a few common injury types seen in Michigan car crashes:

  • Whiplash and Soft Tissue Injuries: Soft tissue injuries like whiplash occur frequently in rear-end collisions. They can cause weeks or even months of pain and limited mobility, especially if left untreated. Even though these injuries don’t always show up on scans, they can be serious and disruptive to daily life.
  • Broken Bones and Fractures: Depending on the severity of the crash, arms, legs, ribs, and collarbones can all be fractured. These types of injuries often require extensive treatment, including surgery and physical therapy, and can take months to heal.
  • Concussions and Head Trauma: Head injuries can occur even in low-speed crashes. Victims may suffer from memory issues, dizziness, or sensitivity to light. It’s crucial to seek immediate care even if the symptoms seem minor at first.
  • Back and Spinal Cord Injuries: Damage to the spinal cord or surrounding muscles can result in chronic pain or in severe cases, partial paralysis. These injuries have long-term effects and may limit mobility or require rehabilitation and ongoing care.
