Brandon Twp., MI - Oxford Woman Killed in Head-On Crash on Baldwin Rd

Brandon Twp., MI (May 26, 2025) – Late Saturday night, May 24, a tragic head-on collision took place on Baldwin Road near Seymour Lake Road in Brandon Township, claiming the life of a 26-year-old woman from Oxford.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 11:41 p.m. The Oxford woman was driving a Chevrolet HHR southbound in the northbound lane of Baldwin Road when she struck a 2007 Hummer H3 head-on. The Hummer was being driven by a 16-year-old male from Clarkston.

The teenage driver, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Authorities said the Oxford woman was not wearing a seatbelt. She was also transported for medical care but sadly died of her injuries in the early hours of Sunday morning, May 25.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office noted that alcohol may have been involved in the crash. Their Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim.

Car Accidents in Michigan

Brandon Twp., MI - Oxford Woman Killed in Head-On Crash on Baldwin RdHere in Michigan, fatal crashes remain a tragic but persistent issue. Statewide statistics from Michigan State Police show that thousands of serious injury crashes and hundreds of fatal collisions are recorded each year. These accidents often involve driver error, speeding, intoxication, or failure to follow basic traffic laws.

In light of such tragedies, it’s helpful to understand the common consequences of head-on collisions:

  • Seatbelt Usage Often Determines Outcomes: Head-on crashes are among the most violent types of collisions. Whether or not seatbelts are used can drastically alter the severity of injuries or survival chances. Wearing a seatbelt is one of the simplest and most effective ways to reduce risk in any crash.
  • Alcohol Plays a Devastating Role: Even a small amount of alcohol can impair judgment and reaction time. When alcohol is suspected in a crash, investigations often include toxicology reports, eyewitness statements, and event data from vehicles to determine fault.
  • Young Drivers Are Vulnerable: Inexperienced drivers, especially teenagers, are often at greater risk of being involved in serious accidents. While in this case the teen driver was not at fault, his safety practices, such as wearing a seatbelt, likely reduced the severity of his injuries.
  • Crash Investigations Can Take Time: Reconstructing the events of a crash is a complex process involving scene measurements, interviews, and analysis of vehicle data. These efforts help ensure the facts are established accurately, which is critical in cases involving possible criminal or civil liability.
