Leelanau Co., MI - Bicyclist Killed in Crash at TART Trail Crossing

Leelanau Co., MI (July 1, 2025) – A tragic accident in Leelanau County claimed the life of a bicyclist on Sunday afternoon, June 29. The incident occurred at the TART Trail crossing on South Center Highway when a 2020 Chevrolet pickup truck pulling a boat trailer collided with the bicyclist.

According to the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened when the bicyclist failed to properly navigate the intersection, striking the northbound pickup. Emergency responders, including the Suttons Bay / Bingham Fire and Rescue Department and the Grand Traverse Band Police Department, arrived at the scene to assist. The victim was transported to Munson Medical Center but, sadly, did not survive the injuries sustained in the collision. The Michigan State Police is assisting with the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
