Detroit, MI (November 20, 2021) – A three-vehicle crash turned fatal on Saturday, November 20 on an interstate in Detroit. The wreck happened at approximately 1:20 a.m., according to reports.
The incident took place when a stolen GMC Terrain was stalled in the westbound lanes of Interstate 94. The GMC was blocking the right lane when a semi-truck hauling a dovetail stopped to avoid striking the vehicle.
A Jeep Wrangler was unable to stop when it approached the two vehicles and struck the semi-truck, pushing it into the GMC. The driver of the Jeep, identified as a 34-year-old male from Ecorse, was transported from the scene with life-threatening injuries.
He was later pronounced deceased at a local area hospital. His name has not currently been reported.
Witnesses told police officers that they saw two occupants of the GMC flee the scene after the collision. Authorities in Detroit continue to investigate the circumstances of the wreck.
