Chikaming Township, MI (November 30, 2021) – A 21-year-old Indiana man has lost his life after an auto accident that happened on a highway in Chikaming Township late Saturday evening. Two passengers were also injured in the wreck, according to police reports.
First responders were dispatched to the Red Arrow Highway near Harbert Road just before midnight on Saturday in response to reports concerning the incident. When police arrived, they found a heavily damaged vehicle on the east side of the roadway which appeared to have rolled numerous times before striking a tree.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased on-site, according to a local source. Two other passengers involved, identified as men in their early 20’s from Indiana, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Both injured victims were transported to Spectrum Health Lakeland hospital in St Joseph. One was released while the other remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Authorities in St. Joseph are still investigating the circumstances of the crash. We hope for the full and fast recovery of the injured victims.
