Plainfield Twp, MI (December 2, 2021) – A fatal traffic accident happened in Iosco County on the afternoon of December 1. Just before 2:00 p.m., various responders were dispatched to the scene in order to assist those involved.
Reports show that the crash occurred on M-65 near Rollway Road when a southbound 1993 Jeep driven by a 76-year-old male Alpena resident was involved in a collision with a northbound 2018 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 55-year-old male resident of Caro.
The 76-year-old male suffered fatal injuries in the accident while the Toyota driver was transported to a medical center in Saginaw with serious but non-fatal injuries. Investigators suspect excess speed to be a contributing factor in the cause of the crash.
Police in Plainfield continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision. Troopers who responded to the scene of the wreck were assisted by Iosco County Animal Control, the Plainfield Township Fire Department, Iosco County EMS, and the Oscoda Township police.
