Grand Rapids, MI - One Man Killed After Hit by Rapid Bus near S Division Ave & McConnell St SW

Grand Rapids, MI (December 12, 2021) - A man from Grand Rapids was killed in a pedestrian crash on Friday afternoon, December 10. At approximately 2:15 p.m., the incident occurred at the intersection of South Division Avenue and McConnell Street Southwest. 

Initial reports from the Grand Rapids Police Department state that the man, identified as a 45-year-old Grand Rapids resident, was struck by a Rapid bus and seriously injured. He was rushed to an area medical center where he later succumbed to his injuries and passed away. 

According to information from officials, the bus was pulling away from the platform when the collision occurred. Why the crash happened remains under investigation at this time. 

Authorities in Grand Rapids continue to investigate the details of the wreck. Nothing further has currently been reported.
