Zeeland, MI (September 26, 2023) – On Tuesday morning, shortly before dawn, there was an accident between Zeeland and Jamestown that left two people hurt.
Deputies and other emergency personnel were called to the intersection of Byron Road and 48th Avenue in Ottawa County at around 6:45 a.m., according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Dill. A 21-year-old woman from Hamilton was driving a sedan south when she was reportedly hit by a pickup truck driven by a 29-year-old male from Kalamazoo, who was traveling west.
The male driver sustained a minor head injury and was transferred to the University of Michigan Health West in Wyoming. The woman was also transferred to the same hospital, where she is being treated for serious injuries.
The accident remains under investigation, and Byron Road remained closed for several hours while Ottawa County deputies investigated.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families.
Injury Car Wrecks in Michigan
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a collision involving a motor vehicle occurs somewhere in the United States about every 10 or 15 seconds. What’s more, given the grim statistics for both the nation as a whole and the state of Michigan, it should come as no surprise that the vast majority of personal injury claims currently being reviewed by our courts involve automobile accidents.
Even if you were involved in an apparently minor car accident, you should still consult a legal professional. This is the case even if you do not feel seriously injured or impacted and the circumstances surrounding your crash seem relatively simple. It is a well-known fact that those who file claims with the assistance of legal counsel receive greater compensation. Many of the victims are concerned about the potential for a substantial increase in their out-of-pocket expenses if they decide to retain legal counsel. The majority of personal injury attorneys accept cases on a contingency basis.
Possibilities exist that having legal representation on your side will be advantageous in various situations. On your behalf, your attorney will negotiate with the insurance company and all other involved parties, including anyone else who may be involved. You can be assured that your attorney will conduct a thorough investigation, identify the parties responsible for your losses, and build a case that will persuade the court that you are entitled to compensation. In the second stage, you may be required to interview potential witnesses and gather additional information.
