Detroit, MI (October 10, 2023) - An accident on the Lodge Freeway in Detroit on Tuesday night claimed the life of a 21-year-old and left another in serious condition.
Reports of a rollover incident obstructing southbound Lodge Freeway traffic at West Outer Drive in Detroit reached the Detroit Regional Communication Center at about 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10.
Michigan State Police said a preliminary investigation shows the suspect, a 34-year-old Warren resident, was speeding before the collision.
A 21-year-old Detroit resident who was riding as a passenger in the impacted car was declared deceased at the site. Another passenger was seriously hurt in the accident.
The state police have said that they suspect drugs and/or alcohol had a role in this collision. The law enforcement is attempting to get a search warrant to conduct a blood test.
The investigation is on hold pending the outcomes of a blood test and the evaluation of the prosecutor.
