Wyoming, MI (December 7, 2023) - Twelve people were evacuated from an apartment complex in Wyoming after a fire broke out early Thursday morning, December 7, according to firefighters on the scene.

Near Burton Street and the 2200 block of Michael Avenue SW, a 36-unit apartment complex caught fire at about 2:00 a.m. Firefighters in Wyoming responded quickly after a renter reported the smell of smoke and called 911. EMTs also assessed several residents for injuries and smoke inhalation, but the total number of victims who were hurt is unknown. The property management firm and the American Red Cross of West Michigan are providing temporary housing and food to the people who the fire has impacted while repairs are being done. An inquiry into the fire's cause is now underway. Investigators asked anyone with information to get in touch.
