Kalamazoo, MI (December 10, 2023) – A teenager has lost their life as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred early Saturday morning, December 9. Calls for assistance came in just before 12:30 a.m.

Reports provided by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) indicate that two vehicles collided on Westnedge Avenue near Garland Street during the early morning hours. The incident prompted officials to close down the roadway. A passenger in one of the vehicles, identified as a 16-year-old, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The drivers of both vehicles were injured. Emergency medical services transported the two victims to area hospitals for emergency care. At this time, investigations into the crash are underway by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS).
