Burton, MI (March 9, 2024) – A 13-year-old boy lost his life as a result of a fire and incident that occurred on Thursday evening, March 7. The Burton Police Department and Fire Department responded to the scene of the incident at approximately 10:45 p.m.

According to local news sources, a mobile home on Bristol Road located in the Creekwood Mobile Home Park caught on fire during the evening hours. A 36-year-old woman, a 13-year-old boy, and an 11-year-old girl were all in the home at the time. The woman and the daughter were able to escape. However, the 13-year-old was still inside the residence as it was overtaken by flames. Firefighters aggressively battled the flames to take the situation under control. Authorities were able to locate the teen inside the residence. However, he suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by authorities. The mother and daughter were transported to Hurley Medical Center for emergency treatment. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
