Detroit, MI - Multi-Vehicle Wreck on I-696 Near Mound Causes Victim Injuries

Detroit, MI (August 2, 2023) - Officers from the Detroit Police Department were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 696 in the greater Detroit area on Wednesday morning, August 2.

According to preliminary reports from the Detroit Police Department, the incident happened at roughly 11:40 a.m. on the right side of I-696 westbound, close to Mound. The DPD and the Michigan Department of Transportation report that officials closed practically all right-hand traffic lanes before calling for assistance from fire rescue teams and EMTs.

Paramedics quickly arrived, but no details regarding the drivers or their injuries were made public. DPD authorities have invited any witnesses to come forward and assist them in their investigation into the circumstances leading up to the incident.
