Royal Oak Township, MI (August 3, 2023) – On Thursday afternoon in Royal Oak Township, an SUV struck an elderly Ferndale woman crossing the roadway, severely injuring her.
According to the Michigan State Police, the collision occurred at about 3:30 p.m. in the area of Wyoming Avenue and 8 Mile Road. A Ferndale man was reportedly driving a Lexus SUV when he struck a woman crossing Wyoming at a crosswalk.
The woman was hit by the passenger side of the SUV and sustained head trauma from the impact, said the MSP. She was rushed to a local medical center, where she received further treatment, but details on her condition were not released.
The authorities said neither alcohol nor excessive speed played a role in the collision. However, MSP troopers are handling the ongoing investigation.
