Detroit, MI (August 30, 2023) - A semi-truck allegedly side-swiped a passenger sedan on a local highway on Wednesday afternoon, August 30, according to reports from Macomb County authorities.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers with the Detroit Police Department were sent to Interstate 696 at Dequindre Road and also dispatched local EMTs to assess victims for injuries. Traffic was blocked across all lanes, and local news footage showed an 18-wheeler had smashed into a sedan in the left lanes of traffic.

Paramedics arrived at the scene of the crash shortly thereafter, though it is unclear how many people were hurt. The DPD is seeking witnesses to aid their investigation, which remains ongoing in the interim.

At this time, our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their loved ones.
