Detroit, MI (September 1, 2023) - Early Thursday morning, September 1, at least one person was injured in a multi-vehicle collision on a highway in the Detroit region.

The exit from Gratiot Avenue on westbound I-696 was the site of the wreck, which was initially reported to police dispatchers around 5:00 a.m. The right side of the roadway was blocked due to the crash, per early reports. Officers from the Detroit Police Department also radioed for additional assistance from local EMTs and made contact with Michigan State Police troopers for aid in the investigation.

Paramedics treated the injured victims, though the total number of victims is yet unclear. Any potential witnesses are being asked to contact the DPD.
