Lansing, MI - Woman Hospitalized After House Fire on Wisconsin Ave

Detroit, MI (October 26, 2023) - A 4-year-old child died in a home fire overnight in Kent County, per local authorities.

The child's father is among the four people taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. The fire's origin is still being looked into.

As of 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, firefighters responded to a call of a fire and found flames engulfing a home at Flat River Drive SE in Vergennes Township near the Lowell City Airport. The first fireman to arrive on the site entered the flaming house in an attempt to locate the missing child, but they were unable to rescue the child under the blaze had been extinguished.

Michigan State Police are now looking into the origin of the fire.

As of now, investigators have not determined what caused the fire, but an inquiry remains active.
