Waverly Township, MI (November 19, 2023) - An ATV driver in Van Buren County was saved when an off-duty paramedic tended to his injuries after a crash on Friday morning.

Authorities in Van Buren County said that on Friday morning, a 58-year-old man from Paw Paw crashed on an ATV for unknown reasons on 36th Street along County Road 665. As the paramedic drove by, he saw the man on the grass turning blue and the ATV on its side. After prompt cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the 58-year-old man started breathing and showed signs of being "somewhat responsive," according to the deputies who responded to the scene. Afterward, he was transported to the hospital and is now listed as stable. The incident remains under investigation.
