Birch Run Twp., MI (November 19, 2024) - A woman lost her life as a result of a major motor vehicle accident that occurred on Saturday evening, November 16. The second County Sheriff’s office was notified of the accident at around 5:00 p.m.
Police reports show that a Chevrolet Equinox was traveling eastbound on Birch Run Road when a Nissan Rogue crossed over the center line and struck the vehicle near Block Road. The Nissan continued forward and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Malibu. A 21-year-old woman became tripped in the Malibu. A 31-year-old woman was trapped in the Nissan. Firefighters worked quickly to remove the victims from their vehicles.
The 21-year-old woman was rushed to Hurley Medical Center, where she died from her injuries. Two additional victims were rushed to the same hospital for emergency care. The 31-year-old driver was transported to Covenant HealthCare hospital in Saginaw with serious injuries. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
