Sheriff Says Roseville Police Shooting Justified After Suspect Rams Patrol SUV

Roseville, Michigan — Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham has determined that an officer-involved shooting outside the Roseville Police Department earlier this month was justified. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on October 13, 2025, when a man allegedly rammed his vehicle into a marked patrol SUV while an officer was inside.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect — a 36-year-old Roseville man driving a silver Pontiac G5 — was seen circling the police station parking lot before striking the patrol vehicle multiple times. When officers approached and ordered him to exit the car, he allegedly emerged holding a hunting knife. After repeated commands to drop the weapon were ignored, officers opened fire, striking the man six times.

Sheriff Wickersham said one officer drew a Taser while two others drew their firearms, but the situation escalated quickly. “You can’t count on that Taser, and as you can tell, he’s armed, he’s a threat — they feared for their life,” Wickersham said.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Authorities said the investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing by the officers involved, and they are expected to return to duty. The case has been officially closed.

The suspect faces multiple felony charges, including two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, and one count of malicious destruction of police property. He has not yet been arraigned.
