Car Accidents in Michigan

Macomb Twp., MI - Head-On Collision on Garfield Rd Leaves Multiple InjuredMichigan’s roadways witness numerous traffic incidents daily, with intersections and busy thoroughfares being common sites for collisions. Factors such as distracted driving, speeding, and failure to yield often contribute to these accidents. In 2023, the Michigan State Police reported over 245,000 traffic crashes, underscoring the importance of vigilance and adherence to traffic laws. Understanding the frequent causes of head-on collisions can aid in prevention:

  • Distracted Driving: Engaging in activities like texting or adjusting the radio diverts attention from the road, increasing the risk of veering into oncoming traffic.
  • Impaired Driving: Operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs impairs judgment and reaction times, leading to dangerous situations.
  • Fatigue: Drowsy driving can result in decreased alertness and the possibility of drifting across lanes.
  • Speeding: Exceeding speed limits reduces the driver’s ability to react to unexpected obstacles or changes in traffic flow.
  • Improper Overtaking: Attempting to pass another vehicle without adequate visibility or space can lead to collisions with oncoming traffic.
