Car Accidents in Michigan
Here in Michigan, traffic collisions remain one of the leading causes of accidental injuries. State crash statistics show that there are hundreds of accidents reported every day, many of which lead to painful and costly injuries for victims. While some incidents are minor, others can bring life-changing consequences. Drivers must stay alert and cautious to help prevent these tragedies on our roads.
Understanding common injuries that occur in vehicle accidents can help victims recognize the importance of seeking medical and legal support:
- Whiplash and Neck Injuries: Sudden impact often causes the head and neck to jerk violently, leading to whiplash. Symptoms may not appear immediately, but can cause lingering pain and restricted movement.
- Back and Spine Injuries: The force of a collision can damage spinal discs or vertebrae. Back injuries may require extensive therapy or even surgery, impacting a victim’s ability to work and perform daily tasks.
- Broken Bones: Fractures are common in crashes, especially in high-speed impacts. Broken arms, legs, ribs, or facial bones can take weeks or months to heal and may lead to complications down the road.
- Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI): Even with seatbelts and airbags, drivers and passengers can suffer head injuries. TBIs can affect memory, concentration, and mood, creating long-term challenges.
- Internal Injuries: Blunt force trauma can damage organs like the liver or spleen, which may not be visible right away but require urgent medical attention.
