Detroit, MI (July 21, 2023) - On Friday, July 21, at around 1:45 p.m., detectives from the Detroit Police Department received a complaint of an accident involving numerous vehicles in which injuries were apparent and began an investigation.
According to an accident notice issued by the Michigan Department of Transportation, the collision happened on the eastbound side of I-96 at around 2:10 p.m. Shortly after being called, DPD officers and paramedics blocked the right lanes going to Plainfield Avenue.
Paramedics were called once DPD officers had evacuated the site, but the current status of the injured or the extent of their injuries remain unknown. The DPD will disseminate updates as they become available and monitor the ongoing inquiry.
