Detroit, MI (July 24, 2023) - Two drivers collided on westbound Interstate 96 on Monday evening, July 24, which led the Detroit Police Department to block most of the roadway and call for the activation of emergency response teams.
According to authorities with the Detroit Police Department, there was a multi-vehicle accident on I-96 near Telegraph Road at 8:50 p.m. Soon after the initial collision occurred, nearby EMTs arrived at the scene to begin treating accident victims, but it is still unclear how many people were hurt or how severe their injuries were.
The freeway was reopened by about 10:00 p.m., but authorities are still investigating what happened. The DPD is handling the inquiry going forward and has not provided further details in the interim.
