Detroit, MI - Child Killed, Others Hurt in Car Accident at Van Dyke & McNichols Rds

Detroit, MI (August 11, 2023) - A child was killed, and several others were injured in a car accident on Friday, August 11, in Detroit.

At around 7:50 p.m., the collision occurred at the intersection of Van Dyke Road and McNichols Road. According to their probe, officers with the Detroit PD say that a motorist traveling south on Van Dyke Road Avenue swerved into oncoming traffic and crashed with another vehicle.

Three children under the age of ten required emergency medical transport, and one of those victims died at the hospital. The total number of injured adults is unknown, but at least one other person was taken to an area medical center.

The police are still looking into what happened and have not provided additional details in the interim.
