Grand Rapids, MI (August 18, 2023) - After an accident on Friday evening, August 18, near the Ann Street exit on U.S. Highway 131 southbound, the highway was shut down, and injuries were reported.
The accident happened on U.S. 131 southbound at 10:45 p.m. in a construction zone. Over the weekend, workers at the construction site planned to do concrete pavement repairs, garbage pickup, gutter cleaning, surface maintenance, and bridge inspections, among other tasks.
On-scene police said that the crash involved at least two drivers near the area of construction, though the victims suffered minor to moderate injuries and refused transport by paramedics.
Officers with the Grand Rapids Police Department are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and did not say if citations or charges were filed in connection with the incident.
