Detroit, MI - Officer Injured at Accident Investigation Site on I-75

Detroit, MI (August 20, 2023) - The Oakland County Sheriff's Office reported a multi-vehicle accident that injured a police officer on Interstate 75 early Sunday morning, August 20.

EMTs responded with local deputies and troopers with the Michigan State Police at around 1:15 a.m. Several right lanes were shut down for an existing on-site investigation into another crash. Shortly thereafter, another driver slammed into an officer's cruiser at the accident scene.

Additional EMT units were dispatched to evaluate and transfer the injured police officer to a local hospital.

Authorities are looking for any witnesses to the incident. In the interim, the police investigation is ongoing, and further information will be released over the next week.
