Grand Rapids, MI (August 21, 2023) - A multi-vehicle collision on Monday morning, August 21, forced the closure of the right side of U.S. Highway 131, according to officers with the Grand Rapids Police Department.

Authorities in the area noted that the area around the U.S. 131 exit to Ramp Market Avenue was nearly completely shut down. The MDOT also reported that the incident took place around 8:45 a.m. and involved at least two drivers.

It is unclear how many people were hurt, but paramedics could be seen via news footage checking on patients and transporting those with injuries.

Deputies in Kent County have asked for any potential witnesses to come forward as their investigation continues.

Our thoughts and hopes for a complete recovery are with the injured victims and their families.
