Detroit, MI (August 25, 2023) - On Thursday, August 24, in the late afternoon, the Detroit Police Department was called to the scene of a collision involving injuries that closed the junction of 16 Mile Road and Mound Road.

The crash closed all lanes close to the intersection, according to a Macomb County incident notice from the Michigan Department of Transportation. The Detroit Police Department and the Michigan State Police arrived at the scene at 2:00 p.m. and began work on their on-site investigation.

The specific number of injured victims is still unknown, but the Detroit PD also sought aid from emergency medical services. In the interim, it is unclear how many victims were hurt or the status of their current conditions.

Detectives from the DPD are continuing to conduct their investigation and are searching for any witnesses who may have additional information.

We offer our sincere thoughts and best wishes to the injured victims and their families.
