East Bay, MI - Two Dead, Two Hurt in Head-on Wreck at Hammond Rd

East Bay Township, MI (August 25, 2023) - On Wednesday afternoon, there was a major vehicle collision at the corner of Hammond Road and Chartwell Drive, leaving two people dead and two others critically injured.

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office reports that at about 5:10 p.m., officers and first responders from Metro Fire responded to the site of the incident in East Bay Township. According to evidence collected at the site, a blue SUV traveling east crossed the center line and collided with a black pickup truck traveling west.

At the site of the collision, two 75-year-old passengers in the SUV were declared dead. Both men in the black pickup vehicle, aged 51 and the aged 20, suffered critical injuries and were taken to Munson Medical Center.

As of Thursday, an investigation into the circumstances of the wreck remains ongoing.
