Kalamazoo, MI (September 3, 2023) - A young woman is in critical condition after being struck by a van while riding her bicycle in Kalamazoo on Wednesday evening.
Authorities say the victim was bicycling home on South Burdick Street at around 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday when a driver struck her and left her lying on the roadway at the corner of Burdick and Stockbridge.
The woman was rushed to an area medical center and underwent surgery. She suffered several fractured bones, a concussion, and a road rash, in addition to other unspecified injuries, and was transferred to Bronson Hospital.
Officials expect the suspect vehicle to have damage to the windshield and passenger side of the car. Witnesses with additional information were asked to call officers with the Kalamazoo Police Department as soon as possible.
