Detroit, MI (September 8, 2023) – On Friday morning, September 8, officers with the Detroit Police Department received an accident alert and a report of injuries at the scene of a multiple-vehicle collision on northbound I-275.
The Detroit Police Department and the Michigan Department of Transportation report that the accident occurred around 6:20 a.m. near the Highway 12 southbound exit. Reports of a crash involving many vehicles and a small group of people prompted officials to close lanes of traffic and call for backup.
All wounded individuals were immediately attended to by paramedics; however, it is yet unclear how they are doing. The authorities are still looking into the crash and will provide further details when they become available.
Our thoughts and best wishes go out to the wounded and their loved ones.
Detroit’s Highways Cause Injuries
Every day, hundreds of cars produce traffic congestion and hazardous road conditions in Detroit and other large cities in Michigan. People might be late for work because they were distracted by their alarm clock, the radio, a phone call, or their phones. Tragic vehicle accidents are common in such weather.
It’s no surprise that Michigan has a high rate of automotive accidents, with roughly seven million vehicles on the road annually. Detroit’s roads and highways, like those in other major cities across the world, have heavy traffic during the morning and evening rush hours on weekdays. Furthermore, when there is a catastrophic accident involving many motor vehicles, the media generally emphasizes numerous concerns, such as drunk driving, inattentive driving, and so on.
Some motorists continue to ignore Michigan’s ban on texting while driving despite the state’s efforts to discourage the practice. People who are engaged in car accidents suffer not only bodily injuries but also severe psychological trauma. In the worst situation, people die, and those left behind are often forced to deal with the emotional fallout on their own. There were almost 300,000 reported accidents in the Detroit region in a single year to the Michigan State Police, with over 54,000 of them happening in Wayne County alone.
Trying to make ends meet after suffering injuries in a vehicle accident and complying with Michigan’s personal injury standards may be a major problem. Without a lawyer to advocate for them, victims of insurance companies often get the smallest possible settlement.
