Olive Twp., MI – Injuries Follow Car Crash on US-127 near Price Rd

Detroit, MI (September 17, 2023) - A trooper from the Metro South Post of the Michigan State Police was injured early on Sunday morning while completing a traffic stop in Detroit, the MSP said.

On the west side of Detroit, near Fenkell, at around 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, a trooper was standing outside his patrol car when he was struck by a speeding vehicle, according to the Michigan State Police, per MSP F/Lt. Mike Shaw. The SUV involved apparently became airborne as a result of the collision and struck the trooper, as well as the vehicle involved in the traffic stop, which had two other persons inside.

The trooper and the other two victims were evaluated at the site before being sent to a nearby hospital.

Authorities have said their investigation continues, but they have not provided any updates in the interim.

Our thoughts and best wishes are with the injured victims and their loved ones.
