Detroit, MI (September 20, 2023) - On September 20, officers with the Detroit Police Department received a collision alert and a report of injuries at the scene of a multiple-vehicle accident on Interstate 696.
Right around 9:00 a.m. on the eastbound side of the highway near Orchard Lake Road, an accident occurred, as reported by the Detroit Police Department and the Michigan Department of Transportation. Reports of a two-car crash with many casualties prompted officials to close all lanes, save the left one, and call for backup from local authorities.
It is unclear how many persons were brought to the hospital, but paramedics quickly assessed and treated all injured parties. The authorities are still looking into the crash and will provide further details when they become available.
