Detroit, MI (October 2, 2023) - On Monday afternoon, a house in northwest Detroit was destroyed by a gas explosion.

At least one neighbor or resident sustained injuries, per a statement from Detroit deputies.

Residents in the area have reported smelling gas for many days. When the owner of one of the eight houses damaged by the explosion that left bricks and wood thrown over the road and yards looked across the street, he saw that his whole house had been destroyed.

As part of the current inquiry into the explosion, authorities said they were unaware of any actions taken in response to the homeowners' reports of gas odors. An investigation remains ongoing, however, and no further details about the victims involved were released.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their loved ones.
