Kalamazoo, MI (October 9, 2023) - Two children were found dead following a fire that destroyed a house in Kalamazoo’s Edison neighborhood early Monday morning.

The fire happened around 2:00 a.m. at a house on East Stockbridge Avenue near the intersection of Division Street. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said that when firefighters got on the scene, they found heavy fire on the first floor, which quickly spread to the second floor.

The two children could not get out of the house and were pronounced dead at the site by paramedics. An adult and another child were able to escape the fire, though they were evaluated for injuries at the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Our sincere condolences are extended to the deceased children's family. Our thoughts are with any injured victims and their families.
