Kalamazoo, MI (October 16, 2023) - After a KPS bus smashed into a tree on Monday afternoon, police in Kalamazoo reported that no one was seriously hurt, though a number of students were assessed for minor injuries by paramedics.
The bus was apparently transporting students from Northglade Montessori Magnet School, located on the northern edge of the city, which is close to the location of the accident on Dunkley Street and west of Cobb Avenue. There were no additional vehicles or injuries reported, said the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety. For safety purposes, students were transported to a neighboring facility after they were evaluated by authorities at the scene.
Officers with the Kalamazoo Police Department are handling the ongoing investigation and have not said whether citations will be filed in connection with the incident.
