Grand Rapids, MI (October 19, 2023) - A pedestrian was struck and injured in a collision that also knocked out electricity to a large area in Grand Rapids on Thursday, October 19.

The Grand Rapids Police Department reports that the accident occurred on Fuller Avenue close to Coldbrook Street NE at around 3:45 p.m. According to authorities, a victim was hit near the intersection and sustained moderate injuries. They remain hospitalized but are expected to recover, per authorities.

In addition, a utility pole was hit as a result of the incident, leading to a blackout in the region. As of 4:20 p.m., electricity was down for around 1,300 residents in the Fuller Avenue and Coldbrook Street neighborhood.

The collision has been reported to the Grand Rapids Police Accident Investigation team and is still being reviewed.
