Detroit, MI (October 24, 2023) - Over the weekend, a Michigan State Police sergeant's patrol cruiser was hit by a motorist suspected of drunk driving.

The sergeant works with a team whose mission is to make DUI arrests. The sergeant had just pulled over a car in the 4400 block of State Street in Saginaw Township around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday when the incident occurred.

The sergeant said that a motorist rear-ended him as he was seated in his Tahoe. He was not seriously injured but was evaluated by EMTs as a precaution.

A 30-year-old Saginaw resident was detained by police on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. No further details were released, but an investigation remains active.
