Detroit, MI (October 27, 2023) - A truck tire almost severed in two a vehicle driven by a Clinton Township couple on Wednesday afternoon, October 25, and left both victims with injuries.
Around 2:00 p.m., the incident happened on eastbound I-696 near Hilton Road. A tire became dislodged from an unknown vehicle, went through the windshield, clipped the male passenger's shoulder, hit him in the head, and sheared the roof off of their vehicle.
The passenger's arms and head were bleeding when officials arrived. A bystander also stopped to assist until first responders reported to the scene.
The Michigan State Police also responded, but the origin of the flat tire remains unknown. An investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking witnesses.
