White Lake Township, MI (November 25, 2023) - White Lake Township was the scene of a reported gas explosion on Friday night, November 25, and authorities are still looking into the incident.
The incident took place near the intersection of Bogie Lake Road and Michigan Highway 59. A subterranean gas line was allegedly triggered by the explosion of vents and canisters that control the airflow. Local residents said they felt the tremors in their homes. Massive plumes of smoke, engulfed in flames, rose into the sky not long after. On Friday night, authorities extinguished the flames and announced that they were testing the air in the area. EMTs also evaluated at least two people for unknown injuries. While crews worked late Friday night to clear the area, officials closed Bogie Lake Road between Highland Road and Biscayne Boulevard.
