Macomb, MI – Car Crash Reported on I-696 near Mound Rd

Macomb, MI (April 3, 2024) – Emergency crews were requested to provide assistance at the scene of a major motor vehicle accident that occurred in Macomb County on Tuesday evening, April 2. The Michigan state police and local firefighters were notified of the accident at around 7:50 p.m.

According to law enforcement reports, multiple eastbound lanes of Interstate 696 were blocked as a result of a vehicle collision involving an unknown number of vehicles. Police and firefighters responded to the crash and immediately shut down a portion of the roadway near Mound Road. Police assessed the involved parties before requesting medical personnel to respond to the scene to care for injured victims. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
