Muskegon Co., MI (April 8, 2024) – Emergency crews responded to the scene of a major motor vehicle accident on Saturday evening at prompted the closure of the roadway for nearly 3 ½ hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. The Michigan Department of Transportation notified the police and firefighters of the accident at around 7:30 p.m. on April 6.

According to official reports, an automobile collision blocked multiple lanes on the northbound side of US Highway 31 near Russell Road. The incident prompted the police and firefighters to close the roadway while assisting. Investigations show that a van occupied by six people and a pickup truck collided on the roadway. The impact of the crash caused the van to leave the roadway and overturn multiple times before ejecting the female driver. The driver and a teenage passenger were both injured in the crash and transported to area hospitals for emergency treatment. Multiple other victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The accident is currently being investigated.
