Car Accidents in Michigan

Warren, MI – Head-On Crash at Hayes Rd & Common Rd Leaves InjuriesEach year, thousands of drivers in Michigan are involved in crashes that result in injury. The Michigan State Police reported more than 50,000 injury crashes statewide in 2022. While many accidents occur due to poor road conditions or weather, a large number stem from dangerous driving choices such as speeding or improper passing.

When head-on collisions happen, they often result in serious or life-altering injuries. Here are some common outcomes and issues victims face:

  • Spinal Cord Injuries: The violent impact of a head-on crash can lead to severe back or neck injuries. These injuries often require long-term therapy and can lead to partial or full paralysis.
  • Broken Bones: Arms, legs, ribs, and hips are all vulnerable during a crash. Fractures can take months to heal and may require surgery or physical rehabilitation.
  • Internal Injuries: Damage to internal organs like the liver, lungs, or spleen may not be immediately visible but can be fatal if untreated. Victims may experience delayed symptoms, making medical care essential after any crash.
  • Facial Trauma: Airbags and broken glass often cause facial cuts, bruises, and even fractures. Recovery may involve surgery or cosmetic repair and can have lasting emotional effects.
  • Loss of Consciousness: Concussions or other head trauma from head-on collisions can result in short- or long-term brain injuries. This can interfere with memory, coordination, and overall quality of life.
  • Long-Term Disability: In many cases, victims are unable to return to work or perform daily activities. The physical and emotional toll can reshape a person’s future entirely.
