St. Clair Shores, MI (April 4, 2025) - A major crash involving three vehicles shut down eastbound Interstate 94 at 10 Mile Road on Thursday, April 3. The collision, which occurred around 11:50 a.m., prompted an extended closure as emergency crews responded to the scene.
According to Michigan State Police, the crash was caused by a driver suspected of being under the influence. Investigators say the woman was speeding and attempted to squeeze between two vehicles already traveling on the freeway. During the maneuver, she struck a semi-truck and another passenger vehicle. Troopers found marijuana, open containers, and whippets inside her vehicle.
The semi-truck involved in the crash leaked a large quantity of oil onto the roadway, adding significant time to the clean-up efforts. Crews worked for hours to safely reopen the affected lanes. Both a driver and a passenger from one of the vehicles were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been released at this time. Authorities are continuing their investigation and charges may be pending for the at-fault driver.
We extend our well wishes to those injured and hope for a smooth recovery.
