Car Accidents in Michigan

Montrose Twp., MI - One Injured in Crash on N Seymour RdEach year, Michigan experiences a high number of personal injury collisions, many of which take place in rural townships and less congested roads. In 2023 alone, the state saw over 50,000 crashes involving injury, with many victims requiring emergency care and long-term recovery. These types of accidents often have lasting physical, financial, and emotional consequences.

Knowing how to respond when you’re involved in a crash can make all the difference. Below are important actions every victim should take:

  • Preserve All Evidence: After an accident, evidence can disappear quickly. Photos of vehicle damage, road conditions, traffic signs, and injuries can help establish what occurred. Save any dashcam footage if available, and do not discard any torn clothing or personal belongings damaged in the crash.
  • Request Witness Statements: Witnesses can provide key insights into how the crash happened. Get names and contact details at the scene if possible. Their statements may support your version of events, especially when fault is disputed.
  • Monitor for Delayed Symptoms: Not all injuries show up immediately. Headaches, dizziness, numbness, or abdominal pain may surface hours or even days later. Don’t ignore these signs—seek medical help as soon as symptoms arise to avoid complications.
  • Track All Financial Losses: Injuries can lead to more than just medical bills. Track lost income, travel to medical appointments, over-the-counter treatment costs, and any impact on your daily routine. This information can be critical when calculating fair compensation.
  • Get Legal Help Sooner Than Later:” The earlier you involve an attorney, the stronger your case may be. They can begin gathering evidence, handling communications, and protecting your rights while you focus on recovery. Waiting too long could limit your legal options.
